Niche Hound is a Chrome extension that adds research details to Amazon.com search pages. It is built to handle as little information as possible: there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and it does not collect or sell your browsing history. The research happens inside your own browser.
What Niche Hound handles
Amazon search pages you visit. Niche Hound only runs on Amazon.com. When you open an Amazon search results page, it reads the results on that page (titles, prices, ratings and review counts) so it can show details under each one. It does not run on any other website.
Amazon product pages for those results. To show sales rank, publisher, publication date and similar details, Niche Hound loads each result’s Amazon product page, and the pages for its other editions, directly from Amazon in your browser, the same way your browser loads any Amazon page. These requests go to Amazon, not to us.
Keyword suggestions. When you click “Expand keywords”, Niche Hound sends the keyword you searched for, plus letters added to the end of it, to Amazon’s search-suggestion service to collect the searches people type. These requests go to Amazon, not to us. The list stays in your browser; you can copy it or download it as a file saved on your computer.
Saved results. To avoid loading the same Amazon pages again, Niche Hound saves the details it found (such as sales rank, publisher and page count) in Chrome’s extension storage on your computer for up to 12 hours. This data is not sent to us or synced to other devices.
Page-reading updates. Amazon changes its pages from time to time. So that Niche Hound keeps working without waiting for a new version, the extension may download an updated list of page-reading rules from getnichehound.com. That request does not include your searches, the pages you visit or any personal information. Like any website, our host (Cloudflare) processes technical information such as IP addresses for security.
What we don’t do
- We don’t collect, store or sell your searches, browsing history or personal information.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking code.
- We don’t use any information for anything other than showing research details on Amazon pages you open.
Niche Hound’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Permissions the extension asks for
- Access to amazon.com: to read Amazon search pages and load product pages for the results.
- Access to completion.amazon.com: Amazon’s search-suggestion service, used for “Expand keywords”.
- storage: to save found details on your computer for up to 12 hours.
Estimates
Sales and royalty figures are estimates based on public sales-rank formulas and KDP’s published royalty rules. They are a guide, not exact numbers.
Your choices
- Saved details expire after 12 hours. Uninstalling Niche Hound removes everything it saved in Chrome.
- You can turn Niche Hound off for any time on Chrome’s Extensions page.
Not affiliated with Amazon

Changes
If this policy changes, for example if we add a paid plan, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
