Amazon Book Sales Rank Calculator

Enter a book’s Best Sellers Rank to estimate how many copies it sells a month. Works for Kindle, paperback and hardcover. Free, with no sign-up.

Fill in any or all. Use the overall rank from the book’s Product details (for example “#25,000 in Kindle Store”), not a category rank.

Estimated copies per month, shown as a range. Everything is worked out in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Skip the typing. Niche Hound is a Chrome extension that shows these estimates under every book on Amazon search pages, for every edition, automatically.

How the estimate works

No one outside Amazon knows exact sales, so the calculator doesn’t pretend to. It runs your rank through two public rank-to-sales formulas: BookBloom’s banded model (recalibrated November 2025, smoothed where its bands meet) and a widely used rank calculator curve, where a Kindle rank of #10,000 is about 15 sales a day. The range covers both, widened a little because rank moves hour to hour.

Print books sell fewer copies than Kindle books at the same rank, so paperback estimates use about 30% of the Kindle figure and hardcovers 15–30%. When you enter more than one edition, the calculator adds them up.
